Activist, Artist, Writer

There's so much more to do!

About Me

Activist

I have spent more than 25 years working as a theater director. In that time my goal was always to help my audience see truth and make a realization about themselves. I wanted to “hold a mirror up to nature.” But the current political climate has made that goal insufficient. What good does it do to hold the mirror up to an audience, if they refuse to look? I realize now, that I must do more. I must go through the looking-glass, and I hope that my audience will follow. My activist page will present ways for you to follow, learn more, and get involved.

Artist - Theater Directing

As an artist, I found myself drawn to work on plays with timeless, universal themes, especially classics. I also found myself drawn to comedy in particular. What could be better than delivering a profound message, but making an audience laugh at the same time. When time allows, I continue to direct plays, coach actors, and teach workshops. If you have an interest in collaborating with me, you can check out my resume on my Art page. You will also find information on my coaching and current workshops available.

Writer

This may be the scariest section of this site, for me at least. For many years I have worked with playwrights and writers. I helped them shape their work. Somehow, it was easy for me to see what they needed to do and how I could help them. I was often told “You should write, too.” But I laughed it off - that wasn’t me. But now I have reached the point where I have a house full of notebooks and I must confess that for someone who does not think of herself has a writer, I do an awful lot of writing. So this page is an attempt to kick myself in the butt and get it out there. I will start by writing a blog on both activism and theater. We’ll see where it goes.
